Dustin Payne Included in Major Exhibition at the Frederic Remington Art Museum

The Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, New York, will debut Remington’s Impression on America on July 4, 2026, as part of the America250 celebration. The project includes refreshed galleries, a new exhibition exploring Remington’s bronze sculptures and the lost-wax casting process, and a special exhibition featuring works by members of the Cowboy Artists of America.

Presented in the Museum’s Tiffany Gallery, the exhibition will feature original works by Albin Veselka, Brandon Bailey, Bruce Green, Dustin Payne, Jack Sorenson, Michael Dudash, Mikel Donahue, Phil Epp, Ron Rencher, Wayne Baize, and Alvin Marshall.

Founded in 1965, the Cowboy Artists of America was established to preserve and advance the traditions of Western art championed by Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell, and other early masters of the genre. More than sixty years later, the organization continues to represent some of the most accomplished painters and sculptors working in Western art today.

The exhibition creates a unique opportunity to view contemporary Western artwork alongside the legacy that helped inspire it. Rather than presenting Remington solely as a historical figure, the Museum's collaboration demonstrates how his influence continues to shape artists working today.

As Museum Executive Director Maggie McKenna explained, “One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the opportunity to place Remington’s work in conversation with artists who are carrying that tradition forward.”

For Dustin Payne, inclusion in the exhibition represents an opportunity to exhibit within an institution dedicated to one of the most influential artists in American Western art. It also highlights the continuing relevance of the subjects, stories, and traditions that have inspired generations of artists.

The exhibition opens July 4, 2026, at the Frederic Remington Art Museum and runs through October 2026, offering visitors a rare chance to experience both the historic foundations and contemporary evolution of Western art.
