A Moment in History, Cast In Bronze
Dustin Payne’s sculptures capture the soul of the American West with stunning realism and reverence. “Last Stand at the OK Corral” is a limited-edition bronze tribute to the legendary gunfight that forever etched Tombstone into American history. Each detail, down to the gun belts, boots, and body language, was sculpted to honor the tension and truth of that fateful day in 1881.
“Last Stand at the OK Corral” is finished and headed to the foundry to be cast in bronze. This edition will be cast in two sizes. The original masterwork is a very limited edition of 25 and the smaller study size is a limited edition of 35. #1 in the masterwork edition will be revealed for the first time in bronze at this year’s Cowboy Artists of America Show in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dustin Payne’s Last Stand at the OK Corral is a powerful companion piece to The Walk, Tombstone 1881 by his father, renowned Western sculptor Vic Payne. While The Walk captures the quiet, tension-filled moments just before the infamous gunfight featuring the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday walking toward destiny, Last Stand immortalizes the dramatic conclusion of that historic standoff from the perspective of the Clanton gang and Cowboys.
Together, these sculptures tell both sides of one of the most legendary events in the American West.
This father-and-son artistic legacy not only preserves the complex story of Tombstone, Arizona, but also honors the timeless values of loyalty, law, defiance, and fate. Each piece is a testament to generational storytelling through sculpture, creating history into bronze so it can be felt, remembered, and passed down.
