Artwork inspired by the 2023 Annual Trail Ride at the historic Bell Ranch in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

For 57 years, the Cowboy Artists of America has held an annual gathering at a working ranch to ride, work and bond as a unique brotherhood. Not only does this annual event build camaraderie and strengthen loyalty to the group, it also inspires members to create artwork distinctive to the trip.

This year, the group met at the historic Bell Ranch in Tucumcari, New Mexico (San Miguel County). Members gathered to swap stories, catch up with old friends and find inspiration to document the week through their art.

Dustin created a little study titled “The Bell Hand” and it is now available in a limited edition of 20 in cold-cast bronze.

Nestled amidst the vast landscapes of the Southwest, the Bell Ranch stands as a testament to the pioneering spirit and resilience of the American West. With roots dating back to the mid-19th century, the Bell Ranch has witnessed countless tales of triumph and hardship, shaping the cultural fabric of New Mexico over the years.
Spanning over 290,000 acres of pristine land, this historic ranch has been home to generations of cowboys, ranchers, and iconic figures who have left an indelible mark on its storied past. The Bell Ranch, with its sprawling expanse, offers a glimpse into a time when the land was untamed, and the spirit of adventure permeated the air.
As one steps foot onto the ranch, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it is impossible not to be captivated by the rich history that flows through its veins. The legendary figures and the legends they created have become woven into the very fabric of this remarkable place.
